Thursday 14th May Ascension Day at St Mary’s Parish Church

7.00 – 8.00 pm Service of 🙏Prayer and Worship for Ascension Day

This service will be used to launch our participation in the Thy Kingdom Come prayer project. There will be short time of prayer and worship together, followed by prayer activities involving creative and contemplative worship. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Thy Kingdom Come

2026 is the 10th anniversary of Thy Kingdom Come, a worldwide movement that invites Christians to pray, during the time between Ascension and Pentecost, for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

At St Mary’s, we will be joining in with the Thy Kingdom Come prayer initiative this year. There will be resources in our churches to help you to pray, and there will be a service of prayer and worship on Ascension Day, Thursday 14th of May 7.00 – 8.00 pm.   Please join us if you can.

Check out the Thy Kingdom Come website and join the global wave of prayer. The website has good ideas and resources, plus links to an app to support prayer in the time between Ascension and Pentecost.
