Healing and Wholeness
The theme of healing and wholeness has been highlighted in our worship in 2024.
Healing Statement
Our parish is in God’s hands. Our roots are reaching deep into His spirit; the branches are reaching out to others. The leaves are for the healing of the people and the nation for justice, love and peace. These are our healing colours and textures.
At St Mary’s, we see healing and wholeness as being about much more than physical healing. Healing and wholeness concerns the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
Prayer for Healing 🙏
As a parish, we are concerned for those who are ill or are suffering in mind, body or spirit. We have a circle of prayer involving many members of our parish who pray for those who are unwell in our parish and beyond. We also offer prayers for the sick and bereaved as part of our church services.
Working Group
We have a healing and wholeness working group which seeks to:
- Work on what we already have of healing of wholeness in our parish, and seeks to deepen awareness of healing through the whole of our parish ministries.
- Look at what we have in our church’s ministry and then move into working with partner agencies.
- Use core values such as love, hope, compassion, acceptance, empathy and respect, active listening, whilst valuing each other’s uniqueness before God, as well as our own diversity, underpinned by the guidelines of St. Mary’s safeguarding.
- To work towards a culture where everyone who comes into church for occasional services or regular services feels valued, listened to, nurtured and safe.
Table Talk
The healing and wholeness working group has initiated a new outreach and social group called Table Talk. The group meets on Thursdays from 10.00 – 11.15 Eastham Library. The group spends time talking about the Arts in the broadest sense of the word, and sometimes undertakes craft activities. It seeks to explore healing themes, and members share ideas and expertise with each other. New members are welcome.
